Everybody Reads

Funded Feb 22, 2024

The "Everybody Reads" project has been a great success at our library.

Thanks to your support, more students now have access to books that are a just right read. The other resources of the project such as the talk buttons, alphabet puzzles, and ergonomic art supplies also increased access to lessons and activities. For example, a kindergarten class made acrostic poems with a word bank using the 'talk buttons' so they could hear me read the words aloud. Students did beautiful work.

The books in other languages have been very popular, as are the books about countries. They have been checked out steadily and generated a lot of excitement. The oversize books and the easel continue to make class more engaging for some of our students with more significant disabilities. It is easier for everyone to see and engage with the text. Additionally, the oversize board books have allowed students to turn the pages or hold their books more independently.

As we wrap up the year in library class, students will be reflecting on their favorite book of the year. We will also be storytelling with our new puppets. Thanks to you, more students found a favorite book. I took great joy in seeing the big smiles on student faces as they discovered and checked out our new books. The lesson resources helped me to plan more engaging, supportive lessons.

Thank you for supporting the belief that 'books and libraries are for everyone'.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Harris
