Sensory Support for Soaring Minds

Funded Feb 13, 2024

Thank you so much for your contribution towards our sensory tools for our students. As soon as they come into the therapy room, they gravitate towards the new equipment, especially the swing and the boat. The students love it and are already incorporating the different tools into their therapy sessions.

The next steps include adjusting to the different tools and utilizing them more in the therapy room and in the classroom. Tools like the visual timer, weighted lap pad, chewy toy, and noise-cancelling headphones can be used in the classroom as needed. for instance, one of our students is already using the chewy toy; it is on his chest as a necklace and he easily accesses it for his oral fixation needs. The teachers and paraprofessionals are aware of the new tools and have been advised to use it when students need support for regulation, alertness, and participation. The tools are accessible to our students and we are excited to manage our students' sensory needs to maximixe functional participation.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Jummy
