  • Ready, Set, Teach!

    Funded Jul 22, 2024

Thank you so much for helping my team start out the year on the right foot. Your support makes it where we can focus on our students rather than our supplies.

This wouldn’t be possible without your generosity! You have made 20+ teachers breathe easier and given 70+ students the basics!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jess

We are so grateful for your generosity and support of our amazing preschool kiddos!

We are a rare section of teachers in our school district because we are not at a school site. With this difference in our program, there is often confusion on the funding of supplies and which department is responsible for buying the basic supplies, let alone the more specialized items. With the constant confusion with our funding we are regularly told that there is no money for supplies. It has been a constant battle to meet our students' needs and out of frustration or exhaustion most of our team ends up spending thousands of dollars on their students. The problem here is that we then have a lot of redundancy because many of the supplies are only used for a short while or with a specific need. I felt that if we created this project we could have a team supply of some of these basic needs.

Many of our students are in the community rather than a public school campus and these communities do not have excess funds to support their students specialized needs. By funding this project you helped us to get games for students to work on social skills and academics. Two specific children who struggled to make friends due to their disabilities were able to attract peers to play with them using these new toys. Once we had peers involved we were able to work on communication skills, turn taking, and handling frustration when presented with a conflict.

You also gave us oral motor devices (chewy necklaces) that helped many of our students (over 15) and their families. Students utilized these necklaces when they needed sensory input and would chew rather than hurting themselves or their peers. It also saved the families money because their clothes were not torn or stretched beyond use due to chewing.

Your contribution provided lamination supplies that are used daily by over 75 students. We were able to create social stories to teach new skills or prepare a student for an anxiety inducing situation. Visual schedules were created to help our students transition easily from one activity to the next and to reduce the anxiety of not knowing. We created visuals to help our students with significant communication delays. The visuals could help a student express a want or need, ask for help, request a break, and many other things.

Without your support our students wouldn't be where they are now! You have made a huge difference by supporting us!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jess
