Engaging and Diverse Classroom Library
Funded Oct 6, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation towards our classroom library. My 7th grade students and I are so appreciative. Because of you, our library is now more diverse and also interesting.
My students use these books for independent reading. They get to choose any book that interests them from our library. Each night they read for at least 20 minutes and we read independently at times in class too. It is especially important that they enjoy the book they are reading in order to encourage a lifelong love for reading and build their reading stamina. It is sometimes difficult for students to connect with reading and especially hard when the books do not interest them or they cannot relate to the books. These books you helped provide are diverse and allow my students to see themselves and their families represented in the books. Also, the graphic novels you helped buy are wonderful for engaging different types of learners.
When my students were presented with the new books, I saw the smiles on their faces and heard excitement. Since receiving these new books, I have also seen a new enthusiasm for reading.
Thank you again for what you did for my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Reyer
