Building Interpersonal & Intrapersonal Skills for Future Career Success
Funded Aug 15, 2024Thank you for your incredible generosity in supporting our stress and SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) materials project! These resources have transformed our classroom into a space where students feel more equipped to navigate challenges and build resilience. One specific highlight has been the introduction of "stress management stations" during our weekly SEL lessons. Students rotate between mindfulness activities, journaling prompts, and peer discussions using the new tools. Watching them engage with the stress balls, breathing cards, and SEL journals has been inspiring—they are learning to express their emotions and develop coping strategies that they can use beyond the classroom.
When the materials first arrived, the excitement was palpable. Students eagerly unpacked the boxes, marveling at the vibrant tools and calming visuals. Many shared how they couldn't wait to try the breathing exercises or use the journals to reflect on their day. One student even commented, "This is exactly what I need when I feel overwhelmed."
Looking ahead, these materials are playing a key role in our upcoming "Resilience Toolbox" project. Each student is creating a personal set of strategies and tools tailored to their stress triggers and strengths, incorporating what they've learned through the SEL activities. These toolboxes will serve as both a tangible and emotional resource for students as they continue their educational journey. Your support has made all of this possible, and I cannot thank you enough for helping my students thrive emotionally and academically.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Valrie
