Winter Snack Fund
Funded Jan 12, 2024Thank you so much for getting snacks for our students! This semester, I have had several students stop by my classroom in order to get snacks because they knew that I had plenty. This has helped me develop positive relationships with my students as the year has gone by. Additionally, my students who get hungry in class do not have to worry about getting distracted from their learning as I always have something to provide them with. I believe that this creates a more comfortable learning experience for all.
Thank you so much for your donations! My students appreciate all that you do for them!!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Dudek
This classroom project was brought to life by LOFT and 3 other donors.Mr. Dudek's First Year Teaching
Funded Dec 21, 2023Thanks to your generous donations, students have had access to a variety of texts. This semester, students have been partaking in silent sustained reading every Thursday. This time is sacred in our classroom because it allows students to cultivate a positive relationship with reading. As a result of fully funding this project, students have an opportunity to select texts that interest them the most. A text of particular interest has been "The Break Beat Poets." This book blends traditional forms of writing poetry with hip hop in order to demonstrate the value of language in any form.
Students have also been using their composition notebooks daily in our classroom. Each student is able to have their own book, which makes the modality of our class extremely accessible. Students use these notebook to write journal reflections to texts that we are reading as a class (we just finished reading Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson!), and to practice grammar that best prepares them for the SOL.
Thank you for giving our students the best chance at succeeding!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Dudek
