  • High Interest Titles for Enthusiastic Readers

    Thank you so much for your generous donations to this project. All of the books purchased through this project are in circulation, and being enjoyed by our students. Our students are always so excited when new books arrive, and I have received a lot of enthusiastic comments such as this one from a 4th grader: "I have been craving this series for a long time!"

    It is really important that we have high interest titles in our library. Every class visits the library once a week, and it is their time to browse independently, and choose books that they are interested in. Reluctant readers are more encouraged to read when they have access to books that they actually enjoy. There is nothing like a good book to motivate students to practice their reading!

  • Voracious Readers Need New Graphic Novels!

    Thank you so much for your support of this project. The graphic novels from this fundraiser have been in constant circulation since we received the order, so you can rest assured knowing that your donation has already been making a great impact. Our students had been requesting some of these titles, like the Investigators book series for months, and were so excited to see that we now have them in our library.

    Graphic novels are such a useful tool for encouraging relunctant and emerging readers. It is the most popular section in our library, and new additions our always appreciated by our students. Some students have even been creating comics and graphic novels of their own!”

  • Help Our Students Read Around the World

    Thank you so much for your very generous donations to our project. Our students love learning about geography and other cultures, and have already been checking out our new books on latin American countries.

    We have many students of latin american descent. Thanks to your contributions our geography and travel section now more adequately represents our school population, and will aid students in learning more about their cultures and others. In particular, I am very excited to lend students these books in preparation for the multicultural fair we put on each year.

  • New Books for Our School Library

    Funded Feb 22, 2024

    I would like to once again express my gratitude for each and every one of you. Thanks to your donations we recently added 30 new high interest titles to our library collection!

    This order included recent additions to popular series, such as The Babysitters Club graphic novels, Dragon Masters, Press Start, and The Questioneers. After these titles were catalogued and processed (given barcode numbers, spine labels and protective Mylar dust jacket covers) they were put on display throughout the library, and ready for the students to check out.

    This is the first day that the new books were put on display, and I am happy to say that half of them have already been checked out by students eager to read them. Many had been waiting patiently to read the latest book in their favorite series.

    When students have access to books they're actually interested in, they are more motivated to read. The library is a place where students are able to choose their own books to read, and as a result are motivated to read outside of class time.
