I foster a culture of acceptance, academic rigor, and a love of writing and poetry in a 6th grade Language Arts classroom. I teach students who come from families of low socioeconomic status and have limited access technology. My school is a Title I, Renaissance school with a high population of English Language Learners and students with diverse exceptionalities and unique learning needs. Walt Whitman once said, "Education is not the filling of the pail, but the lighting of a fire." My classroom is the spark that ignites that fire.
