Snacks and Speech
Funded Dec 28, 2023Our speech therapy team and wider school community would like to thank you again for your generous donation. Your donation directly helped us in obtaining a mini-fridge and reusable partitioned plates for our students. Your donation impacts all of our students. In our school community, all students receive speech therapy, with a significant percentage of those students receiving additional feeding-related therapy.
When working with children with sensory feeding issues we seek to expand the amount of foods they find safe and keep them happy, which is often limited to a few items. Previously, the foods we could introduce all had to be pantry or shelf stable. The mini-fridge especially helps us introduce a wider variety of food items, like yogurts and fruits while ensuring prolonged freshness and food safety.
Encouraged by your donation, we're now able to introduce foods in creative ways such as through edible crafts and meal-related activities. For example, with springtime in full bloom, we created apple lady bugs (with pretzel antennas, raisin and chocolate chip dots, and candy eyes) with which students explored salty, sweet and sour flavors! Our team and school community is thankful for the steps you've helped our students' food adventures.”
With gratitude,
