Diverse Classroom Seeks Supplies
Funded Dec 2, 2023I have a ton of students, there is already a waiting list, who are reading the Girls Survive books! They absolutely love reading about strong female protagonists and the historical events that are contained within. I'm really glad I got the 9/11 book, as a lot of my students don't know what 9/11 is, since they weren't born yet. Also, the students like having the option to read about different races, religions, and genders. I carefully chose books that represented historical event that I thought was important for them to learn about, but also trying to be as diverse as possible. I think I made a good choice for the books! I thank you so much for helping my students gain access to books like these.
As for the other supplies, the kids are loving them. I'm not quite sure what happened to my original supply of pencils (I'm starting to think that 6th graders are eating them), but we shouldn't run out of pencils anytime soon! They are also loving the mindful mazes, as they work not only as a fidget toy, but it teaches them how to do calming breath work. Although the bean bag was supposed to be for our chill out corner, which where kids can go if they need a moment to gather themselves, it seems that has become the reward chair. Since so many students want to sit in the chair, I have now made it a reward for those who earn it, which is working great for classroom management!
Once again thank you so much for your kindness!!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Staub
