Rockets and Weather: Exploring STEM and Meteorology with Hands-On Learning
Funded Dec 4, 2024I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our project, Rockets and Weather: Exploring STEM and Meteorology with Hands-On Learning. Your commitment to our classroom is truly inspiring and will have a lasting impact on our students.
Thanks to your kindness, my students will engage in hands-on STEM activities that bring concepts like meteorology and rocket science to life. These experiences spark curiosity and build critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Your generosity empowers us to dream big and aim high. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us create a dynamic, exciting learning environment!
With sincere thanks,”
With gratitude,

Funded May 5, 2024My students are truly thankful. They actively participated in their summer learning, exploring the concept of adaptations and their influence on our Alaskan environment. They created artwork to depict how organisms and adaptations affect their lives in the village and shared their insights on how nature is intertwined with their culture. Overall, their minds were opened to the fact that your support, technology, and creativity influences their learning.
Again, we thank all the donors who made our recent projects possible! Your generosity allowed us to introduce students to the fascinating concept of adaptations in living organisms through a blend of art, science, and technology. The resources you provided helped spark creativity and curiosity, making these lessons engaging and memorable. We're so grateful for your support in bringing these ideas to life and helping our students explore the wonders of the natural world in such an innovative way. Your contributions truly made a difference!”

Funded Nov 27, 2023This donation has been a blessing for my students, and I sincerely thank you for your contribution to the expansion of the minds of these students. My students also thank you and for the new technological addition to our classroom. They were very intrigued to learn that there are people outside of their Native American village of Emmonak, who care about their educational well-being.
With our new classroom technology, we were able to incorporate a new method of learning, move past humdrum lessons and have digital hands-on experiences. Being able to introduce technology that gives allowance for each student to participate has piqued their interest and gave them another means to retain the information. Everyone wants to try the iPad. While we live in a technologically advanced world, still there are students who have no technology at home and only experience it at school. This use of the iPad for their math lessons has given them a new outlook and a more fun experience into approaching our lessons. They are excited to try, and the ones who may usually shy away are gaining confidence in their abilities.
In our classroom, we have a large digital whiteboard that the students get to use at certain times and it has come in handy. But with a digital tool that can actually move around the classroom, they get a chance to solve math problems on the iPad, while the rest of the class can observe and participate. Using the iPad with our math lessons, especially pre-agebra, has encouraged peer-to-peer learning, an additional benefit in having the iPad. One of the methods we use in the classroom is the students are placed in groups and they each get a chance to use the iPad to solve the problems and work with some math apps. It has stimulated other skills and class comradery. As the teacher I am able to interact more with the students and project the lessons onto the whiteboard without disrupting the flow of learning.
We currently only have this iPad and two rotations of twenty-five students, so it has become a challenge to let everyone have a chance, but we are making it work to the best of our ability! It is a start to the fulfillment of the vision that the students of Emmonak School can have an equal opportunity to experience what most students in other states do daily. It has given me an opportunity to help them increase a positive outlook on math education and I am extensively grateful to the donor who made this happen. Overall, my students were more engaged and enjoyed the lesson. It was more meaningful when they were able to self-check their answers in our scientific notation lesson on the iPad. For some reason life is better when iPads are used in this generation (haha).”
With gratitude,
Mr. Emile
