I am so excited to introduce my kids to the books you have so generously bought for my classroom. I really think that it will take some of the intimidation out of reading and also help them develop skills in the language they have grown up speaking. My students have very stressful lives. Outside of the fact that they are middle schoolers trying to figure out where they fit in an ever-increasingly complicated world; they go through so much more outside the walls of our schools. I recently asked them what I could do to make them more comfortable in the classroom - they all wanted more comfortable seats, less harsh lighting, and areas of the room to escape and be alone if they needed it. This project focuses on the seating. If you have ever spent more than one period in a student desk, you know. They are so uncomfortable - and the kids are told to sit down ALL THE TIME! With these products I can give my students options. Those who prefer desks can sit in more comfort with the chair cushions. Those who want to sit on the floor can. We have bean bag chairs, but need a rug and lap desks to be able to really use them well. Help me create a classroom that will let my students breath a little easier. They need it.
