Calm, Cool, and Ready to Learn!

Funded Jan 17, 2024

My students were so excited to see all of the new items that were generously donated to our classroom. We started a unit on emotions and identifying our own emotions as well as others' emotions. We used the mirrors with pictures of emotions to support us. Students practiced identifying faces and how others might be feeling when they display certain faces.

Often students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, have a difficult time identifying emotions that others display. With the mirrors students became aware of the different faces we make based on our feelings and emotions. Students had a great time with the activity.

Also students have been loving the bouncy balls and fidget items available to them throughout the day. Students have individualized sensory needs and these items have enabled them to balance their sensory needs discreetly in class while remaining engaged during instruction.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Solomon
