Fuel Our Future: Support Our Classroom Next Year!
Funded Aug 20, 2024I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart from me and my students for these supplies. This is my second year teaching, and I wanted to make sure my students had enough supplies to complete the different activities I have for them during the year, and wouldn't have to worry about missing anything. You made that happen! With your donation, I was not only able to replenish some of my resources, but also upgrade a few things in my classroom now that I know what I need to be a more effective teacher.
Pencils is a hot commodity in my classroom, but they do prefer lead pencils. So with the mechanical pencils, erasers, and lead that you donated, we created a classroom job specifically for someone to help manage the pencils! This has been a fun addition.
Another thing I like to have in classroom is open access to resources. I don't want students to have to ask to grab items, I want them to feel comfortable to just grab them. Which is why I have set up table caddies where they have an array of resources at their fingertips. In one of the pictures you will see the caddy that has rulers, highlighters, color pencils, markers, scissors, glue sticks, and pens. Many of those items were donated by you, so thank you very much!! We actually just finished a project where they had to use almost all those materials to make castles! I attached a picture so you can see the different designs they were able to create. The castles are standing on the cardstock paper you also gifted us.
As for organization and trying to be more effective, I use the rolling storage cart to collect and organize classwork, the lamination sheets to keep onto papers/activities I want to use for next year, and tape/sticky tacks to put up posters around my room. This has made my room run more functionally and help me keep anchor charts up for longer. You can also see how I use the plastic sleeves at the whiteboards. I put up a problem in the sleeve and they do their work on the whiteboard or the plastic sleeve. Because it's plastic, it is easy to erase & re-use!
The last thing I want to thank you for is my chair. This was the only thing I put for me and not for the students because my previous chair was broken. Not only did this raise my quality of life while working, but I am super appreciative of not having to worry of falling over (especially in front of the kids).
All in all, your donation has helped stocked my classroom for the entire year and possible next year too and I am so thankful for people like you to have graced us with this opportunity. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart and I hope you have a wonderful new year.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Galvan
This classroom project was brought to life by United Airlines and one other donor.Build a Thinking Classroom with Us!
Funded Feb 7, 2024I am incredibly grateful for the generous donation of classroom supplies that have helped us build a thinking classroom! These resources have enhanced our classroom environment by providing organization and supplies directly to my students at their desks. Here are a few ways these materials have impacted out students and provide a glimpse to how we've utilized them:
- Students are now engaging in interactive and collaborative learning when it comes to graphing. For example, during our piecewise function unit, I gave each student a whiteboard and had them practice dividing the graph in sections based on the domain, and then draw their lines. This hands on approach allowed students to see each other's work and easily correct mistakes. I was also able to see their work faster, thus providing feedback quicker.
- My students were very excited when they saw the organizers and supplies in the middle of the table. I filled it up with glue sticks, scissors, color pencils, highlighters, rulers, and calculators and they started to use these materials more often. When we would use whiteboards, the markers and erasers and already in the organizer thus providing a space to not only get supplies, but also put away supplies.
- We are now entering exponential functions and we are going to start using the graphing whiteboards as a warm-up every morning to work on and improve their graphing skills. I know my students enjoy writing on a whiteboard because it feels more interactive than writing on paper.
In conclusion, your donation has not only provided essential tools for learning, but also inspires enthusiasm when my students get to use their resources.”

Granting the Power of a Graphing Calculator
Funded Jan 22, 2024I want to express my gratitude for your generous donation of the graphing calculators to my classroom. Since receiving the calculators, my students now get excited when they see me take out the box because they know they will be learning something new. These graphing calculators have changed how my students engage with mathematical concepts and empower them to visualize complex functions beyond a straight line.
One of the most exciting aspects on this new type of calculator is their versatility and functionality. They are not only tools for solving equations, but powerful instruments that allow them to explore and discover mathematical concepts that they haven't even touched. This has captivated their interest in more advanced math symbols & concepts, thus making learning more engaging and rewarding.
I do have a few students who have made it their mission to figure out what else these calculators can do - beyond the math. (:
In this last quarter, we are starting to enter exponential functions and quadratic equations and I can already imagine the type of lessons I will be able to plan to include hands-on learning because of these calculators.
In summary, these calculators have been a refreshing new piece of technology that has captured the curiosity of my students. This takes their basic 4 operation calculator to another level, and I am excited to be one of the first teachers to show them how to use it. Without your donation, this would not have been possible, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Galvan
