Elegant Enchantment: Table Linens and More for Dinner Theater Magic
Funded Nov 11, 2024We are thrilled to share the success of the Mad Tea Party Dinner Show, which was brought to life on January 29, 30, and 31 at East Career and Technical Academy. Over 600 guests attended across four enchanting performances, experiencing a truly magical evening that seamlessly blended culinary arts with theater.
Thanks to your generous support, our Mad Hatter's-themed tables looked absolutely stunning, creating an immersive atmosphere that left our guests in awe—especially the elementary students, who were overjoyed to take their seats at such whimsical settings.
Our Culinary and Hospitality departments were deeply grateful for the serving platters and pitchers, which played a crucial role in delivering an elegant and professional dining experience. Audience members raved about the delicious food, top-notch service, and captivating performance, all made possible by your generosity.
Most importantly, your contribution provided our students with a real-world learning experience, allowing them to take pride in their skills and creativity. From the beautifully set tables to the seamless food service, this event was a testament to the power of hands-on education.
On behalf of our students, staff, and the entire East Tech community, we extend our heartfelt thanks for making this extraordinary event possible. Your support truly made a difference!”

Funded Sep 18, 2024The materials from the grant have made a significant impact on our production of "Alice in Wonderland"-inspired theatre play. We are still in the rehearsal process, but the costume pieces, such as pocket watches, clap hands, and googly-eye glasses, have been exciting to incorporate into the show. For example, some of my students had never seen a pocket watch before, and they were thrilled to open and explore the timepiece.
Our version of "Alice in Wonderland" features the Momeraths, so we are creating their costumes with colorful wigs and the googly-eye glasses. My costume design students have been using the wig stands to style and perfect the wigs, which has been an incredible hands-on experience.
The rabbit ears have been a huge hit across campus! Students in the Photography class have even borrowed the ears for their composition projects. They've created some truly creative and whimsical photographs, and the students love experimenting and having fun with the props. Seeing their joy and enthusiasm has been incredibly rewarding.
Next month, we'll be opening the production, and everything is in full swing. The cast is working hard to memorize their lines, while the crew is sewing costumes, styling wigs, and planning the menu with the chefs. We're also preparing the set and arranging tables for the performance. It's a busy and exciting time, and the students are pouring their energy and creativity into every aspect of the show.”

Funded Nov 6, 2023I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the generous grant that allowed my students to experience the transformative world of makeup artistry. Witnessing their excitement as I announced our hands-on makeup learning adventure brought immense joy to my heart.
The inaugural day of our makeup class was nothing short of exhilarating. The classroom echoed with enthusiasm as each student eagerly grasped a sponge, ready to delve into the creation of captivating special effects makeup. The creativity and ingenuity displayed were truly inspiring.
Throughout the makeup unit, my students not only enjoyed the learning process but also had an absolute blast showcasing their artistic skills. The faux injuries they crafted became a source of amusement for friends, teachers, and even parents. One memorable incident involved a student playfully alarming his mother with a fictional tale of a schoolyard scuffle, prompting laughter once the truth unfolded. It served as a delightful illustration of the amalgamation of makeup and acting skills.
The professional makeup provided through your grant elevated the entire learning experience for my students. As we move forward, we plan to incorporate these invaluable resources into our upcoming Spring production and next year's show. It is heartening to note that some of my students are now expressing a keen interest in pursuing a career as professional Makeup Artists.
Your support has not only enriched our curriculum but has also ignited a passion for makeup artistry among my students. Thank you for making this special unit possible—it has been a truly wonderful experience for both myself and my students.
With sincere appreciation,”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Vlaming
