A Happy Classroom Is An Organized Classroom

Funded Nov 4, 2023

Thank you so much for donating resources for my classroom! These classroom resources have been put to good use for the purpose of creating a more organized classroom. Before receiving these resources, vital teaching materials were store in one large container in which it was difficult to easily access supplies when needed. Now, the some of the vital teaching supplies such as math manipulative which are used throughout much of the year are now stored in a way that is easily accessible for both myself as well as my students. Even though some of these supplies seemed to be for simple things, they will be put to great use on a daily basis. The utility rolling cart is used every day to hold all of the daily teaching supplies in one area so that I do not have to walk back and forth from my desk to grab the teaching books that I need for the lessons, and the small pocket chart is being used to hold all of the students' school ID so that they do not get lost. The other resources such as the three drawer carts will be used by the students to organize some their teaching supplies that they need to be able to access easily.

As the first deliveries of supplies began coming in, the students were so excited to see them in their unopened boxes; their excitement was at such a level that you would have thought they had just received an amazing birthday or Christmas gift that they had been waiting to get for all of their life! When the students asked what these organization resources were for, I let them help to come up with ideas on how they wanted to use some of these resources, and their ideas were pretty good. Allowing them to be involved in choosing how to utilize these resources just increased their excitement even more! Seeing the joy on my students' faces when they realized that these boxes of supplies were for the classroom and were for them filled my heart is such joy.

Now that I have some new materials to help keep the classroom organized, the next steps for my students on the current classroom project is arranging the room in a way that the resources are easily accessible for all the students by putting them in one central location. I also plan on wanting to designate the carts to be the math cart, holding all the math supplies, while the others will be the writing and craft cart and student supplies cart. Using the organization resources in this way will help the students feel like their contributions matter and that their voice is heard in the classroom.

In the future, the next upcoming classroom project that I will plan for my students is to provide some flexible seating options in the classroom as well as getting some seasonal decorative supplies to help make my classroom feel more welcoming to the students. Completing this project will help create a classroom environment that is more student centered and to help the students own the classroom and to understand that learning doesn't always have to be sitting in a desk to learn; they can sit on the floor, cushions, and even rocking seats.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Fedele
