Student-Centered Destressing Library Makerspace Station!

Funded Dec 20, 2023

Students have been extremely excited to find fun maker space materials available to them in our library. Recently during our school's Awareness Week in which we focused on mental health, students found a de-stressing coloring station I was able to set up for them using materials I was able to purchase using your generous donation. Students could color bookmarks printed on cardstock to use for their current free reading book, or they could choose a coloring page with an inspirational message. Students were allowed to take the materials with them or work on it in the library. We also were able to host the CLS class for a mindful coloring session—these are students with special needs—and it was one of the most joyful experiences of the school year for me. They were so excited that they could choose anything they wanted to color and take it with them. Many took extra bookmarks and pages with them when they left.

I also was able to use the ample supply of card stock provided from your donation to create daily mental health trackers for students. Many students have taken these and commented on how helpful they think this will be for them. We even had some of our staff ask to take one to help support their mental health!

None of this would be possible without your generous donation! I have so many more supplies to use for the remainder of the year and next year. Your support will continue to serve us well into the future. Thank you!!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Stone
