Board Games Boost Mental Health!
Funded Aug 18, 2024This project has improved my classroom climate in homeroom tremendously. The students are able to engage with each other and bond over these fun board games. They have met new people and begun to create lasting memories. Homeroom is a four year class with the same students throughout their high school career. The class is meant to help students build community and find other to relate to during their four years in high school. These games have helped bridge the gap of connection for these students with one another.
When I announced that our project was funded, they were shocked, excited and ready to play on Fun Friday! They could not believe all of the board games that I had for them to choose from. The class favorites so far have been Giant Jenga, Giant Uno and Battleship. It has been wonderful seeing them collaborate and have so much fun together. On tough days where they are feeling down, these board games have helped them smile.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Google.org Teen Mental Health Initiative.Productive Artists in an Organized Space!
Funded May 3, 2024My students and I are using our new resources to keep the space organized and clean. They are now able to know exactly where to locate the items they need and use them when they need them. When I had first told my students about the supplies we had received, they were surprised and excited. They were shocked that our project was funded so quickly, by generous donors that they did not know. Your generosity demonstrated to them that their education is cared for by not just myself, but the community. When we opened boxes there were smiles all around for the potential of what our supply shelves would look like soon.
As the school year came to an end, we removed everything from our shelves and began to separate by category. My students were diligent and excited to organize. Every one of my six classes organized, sorted, labeled and stored our everything to make our shelves look beautiful! It was a great way to end the year and celebrate the work we had done together. My next steps for my students this upcoming year is to create more artwork from a range of materials that we can now easily access. I want to give them a variety of creative possibilities with new materials, engaging projects and to eventually replenish the supplies we now have dedicated spaces for. I am very excited to begin this school year and a large part of that is your generosity to making my classroom a safe space for my students. Thank You!”
