Plants and Music for Science!
Funded Sep 3, 2024Thank you so much for your generous support in providing snacks and essential items to enhance learning and engagement in my science classroom at Waianae High School. These resources have already made a noticeable difference in my students' focus and enthusiasm for learning. Providing snacks has helped create a more welcoming and energized environment, especially for students who may not always have access to food during the school day. They are able to focus on their science projects without distractions, and I've noticed a positive change in their overall engagement and participation.
The supplies you provided have also allowed us to introduce more hands-on activities and experiments. Recently, we launched a project where students observed plant growth under different conditions, a task that required focus, patience, and attention to detail. The snacks kept their energy up and gave them something to look forward to while working through each stage of the experiment. It's been heartwarming to see how excited they are to dive into their learning, and these new resources have transformed our classroom into a place where students feel cared for and inspired to learn.
As we continue with our environmental science projects, these items will support students in exploring topics like ecosystem health, sustainability, and conservation, all relevant to our island community. Thank you for helping to create an environment where students feel valued and eager to explore the wonders of science. We are grateful for your support and excited to share our journey with you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Luther

Funded Oct 29, 2023Mahalo nui loa for your supporting in funding the Snacks for Science project. With these snacks students were able to have access to food during class, breaks, recess and lunch if needed. These snacks were a helpful incentive for motivating students to come in during breaks to catch up on homework and ask for help. Students were much more likely to settle in to their seat and learn material versus rebel and lose focus because they were agitated and hungry.
The accessibility of snacks in the classroom has provided a convenient solution to combat hunger pangs, thereby enhancing students' ability to concentrate and participate actively in lessons. Moreover, the sharing of snacks has fostered a sense of camaraderie among peers, promoting collaboration and a supportive learning atmosphere.
The students are very appreciative to have had snacks available throughout the day and feel a sense of comfort and wellbeing in the classroom.”

Ms. Luther
