The Band Room Essentials
Funded Aug 30, 2024Thank you so much for the generous donation to our band program. With these supplies, the band room is much more organized and the students have access to quality materials that will help them participate in band for much longer. These band materials can be very expensive, so being able to provide them for my students removes the monetary barrier between them and being able to participate in band. The re-organized band room (with a huge help from the organizational materials gathered) ensures rapid acquisition of materials and increased instruction time. Thank you again for the generous donation!”

Making Music With Westside Pride
Funded Nov 19, 2023My students make up a small, but dedicated band that strives to spread music and positivity throughout their school and community. For a lot of my students, the costs of high quality materials can be a barrier to being able to participate in band to their full potential. Thanks to the generous donations from the Donors Choose donors, my students now have access to the highest quality reeds and drum sticks!
In band, instruments like clarinets and saxophones require the use of reeds to make sounds. A bad quality reed will result in a very poor quality sound, and can even lead to the musician developing bad habits as they try to change how they play to make better sounds. The high quality Vandoren reeds come recommended by the best of the best and are proven to contribute to excellent playing and tone. Similarly, the Vic Firth drumsticks are top of the line when it comes to quality percussion equipment. While they last longer than reeds, drumsticks do wear down to the point of being unusable, which was the status of our previous drumsticks.
I would like to thank the donors one more time for their generous contribution to our band program. The high quality reeds and reed storage will allow my saxophone and clarinet players to maintain a high level of musicianship. The drumsticks will allow my percussionists to keep making music with new and high quality equipment.”
