Calming Fish

OMG... Thank you Donors Choose Family. The impact of our "Calming Fish" project for our school community has be very impactful and successful to this point. In a school setting, we deal with many social and emotional outburst as well as mental health challenges. When certain challenges arise such as anger, frustration, tantrums and the inability to calm down in a timely manner, having this fish tank, stationed in the main foyer of our school building has been a tremendous delight.

Students who are struggling emotionally often are brought to the fish tank area and are more easily able to "Calm Down". The quiet, relaxing atmosphere of just watching 7 beautiful goldfish swim around is quite soothing. The students were able to take part with name the fish and on each day, different grade levels take part with feeding and keeping up with the maintenance of the fish tank. Having our newly installed fish tank has been a tremendous blessing to our school and without our Donors Choose family, our endeavor to have this special place would not be present.”
