  • First Grade Reading Supplies

    Funded Feb 8, 2025

Thank you for your support and your generous donation. Each generation of students brings new challenges and part of student engagement we rely on technology as a learning tool to grab, maintain and sustain student interaction as well as buy in. Technology is a part of our daily learning routine, we utilize math, reading, phonics, research and limitless data bases of interactive learning apps. With these learning apps students are engaged and met at their current learning needs, while adapting to their next steps and supplemental course corrective actions.

Your donation provided us with headphones for every student in our class. We can enjoy learning apps without interrupting our class mate neighbor. The students are thankful for the noise cancelation.

Our class is comprised of students whom live in a shelter and students who are below the poverty line. My class is appreciative of your generous donation, many of their parents could not provide them with headphones, we are thankful.”

  • Ready Set Read!

    Funded Jan 15, 2025

Thank you for funding Ready Set Read! The Insta Learn phoneme cards are a wonderful independent, self correcting learning tool utilized within our Literacy learning block. My eager learners are excited to explore fun reading and spelling tools the Insta Learn tiles provides. The students love using the phonemic tiles to strengthen their understanding of new spelling patterns we are learning.

When the students have literacy centers and notice they have the opportunity to utilize the Insta Learn phoneme tiles, they literally clap and cheer that it is their turn to work with this option within their literacy station.

As we grow as independent spellers, readers and writers, we look forward to using the Insta Learn picture cards to reinforce spelling patterns and spelling rules that identify specific phonemes then match the appropriate graphemes.

Your donation has tremendously impacted our classroom by promoting independence and internal joy towards learning.”

  • I’ve Got Big 1st Grade Feelings!

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

My classroom has greatly benefited from your generous donations!

After receiving your generous donations I waited until the students were dismissed for the day and created our new cozy/calming space. When my students arrived to school the next day, their eyes popped out of their heads, there were lots of wows, claps and excitement in the air. We created and identified specifications for how and when we will use our new space.

We created a list of reasons as to why we may need to use the cozy/calming corner and we discussed how to respect each others time when we are using the space.

One of my students had been sick and absent from school for 4 consecutive days. Upon her return she was understandably homesick and down. She requested the cozy/calming corner and immediately gravitated to Mia the weighted Plush Sensory Monkey. After 10 minutes in the cozy/calming corner exploring other items like the Hand2Mind Sensory Fidget Tubes and Pop Fidget toys she was able to join us in a group activity. During the day she returned to the cozy/calming corner to self regulate her very real, very overwhelming feeling of being homesick. My student was able to return to school the next few days with a positive attitude knowing she has a space within our classroom to validated and express how she feels.

Our next steps in our classroom project is a path to independent Social Emotional Learners. We are working on using our cozy/calming corner for other purposes like just a quiet place to read, or to collaborate while completing partner work. We are also working on making sure we use our new space responsibly and respectfully. We are understanding "fair but not equal" in terms of how often each student may utilize our cozy/calming corner.

I am so thankful to you, without your donations my class would not have these amazing tools.”

    Ms. Ogieste

  • Compassion in First Grade

    Funded Sep 1, 2024

The Kids Book of Diversity and A little Spot of feelings bundle has supported our theme of compassion within our classroom. We read, charted and acted out each topic Anger, Anxiety, Peaceful, Sadness, Happiness, Love, Confidence, Scribble, Empathy Diversity, Kindness and Respect for Difference. We used these topics to identify feelings on our classroom mood meter. We labeled the mood meter with emotion emojis. We created a classroom charter. We used the plushies to play communication games with our peers, the plushies helps us identify the words we need to use to communicate our feelings when it's hard to explain exactly how we feel. Some our students are ENL learns and utilize the plushies to show how they feel when they cannot recall the words to say how they feel.

In our classroom reading looks like 25 amazing students huddled together on a rug looking, listening and eager to explore a new feeling through literature. Students are engaged with colorful illustrations and the characters, our classroom loves to stop, think, and pair share about each page. As we gather more information about each emotion from the books, we get excited about making classroom charts with illustrations the students draw and label. We create strategies and scenario charts to refer to and check in on the mood meter.

It has been a pleasure to see our ENL students gravitate to the plushies as well as the illustrations within the books. Our ENL students can locate the pages of the book that best describes their emotions when they struggle to recall the vocabulary to verbally explain how they feel.

As we grow as individuals it is important to develop our Social Emotional Learning to be able to respectfully work with one another understanding diversity and kindness. We are thankful for these tools to identify and express our emotions.”

  • Outdoor Learning Fun!

    Funded May 11, 2024

    Thank you for your generosity,

The students are ending this school year with awesome outdoor activities.

When the students saw all the supplies we received they were so excited. We planned math, writing and reading activities together. We brainstormed on different ways to use the donated items. It has been awesome working outside of the classroom transferring our learning into creative outdoor activities.

We have been creating amazing chalk art, bubble experiments estimating how long it can take for bubbles to pop on grass vs concrete vs paper vs the air we are also working on shadow art.

Our next steps are exciting, the students can't wait to take the remaining items and continue to utilize them over the summer.”

  • First Grade Seat Sacks

    Funded Jan 7, 2024

There are no words to express my gratitude for your generosity. Thank you for helping me make my first grade class an enriched classroom by supplying these basic supplies.

I love it when the students in my classroom are organized! I am using the chairback storage organizer to organize the students in my classroom. Now that I have laminating sheets it will be easier for me to create and laminate words for my word wall.

These supplies are helping my students and I have a beautiful classroom . Thank you again for your amazing gift to my first grade classroom.”

  • First Grade Flexible Seating

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Thank you for providing an awesome opportunity to my classroom with a set of flexible seating stools.

My students enjoy coming to work in small groups in our meeting area. The excitement of sitting on the flexible seating stools to prepare for our learning intentions is evident as their faces light up with joy.

Before we had the stools we were on mismatched chairs that did not reach the hight of the meeting table or the chairs were too high providing very little space for the students legs under the table.

We are so thankful to the donors fast response to our request! We wished, we asked, we received and we are delighted to have a comfortable space for learning.”
