Boosting Mental Health in Dance Class
Funded Aug 24, 2024Thank you so much for the mental health resources that you provided for my students. The students were greatly supported by the snacks, water cups (to provide easy access to water which is not a given in our building), and fidgets to help with anxiety. My students' wellbeing was significantly increased and supported by your assistance.
All of my 150 students benefited in some way from this contribution and I can confidently say that it supported their overall ability to learn and succeed in my classroom. To paint a picture of what we're working on in my class, I will share that the students have explored 6 different styles of dance so far this semester: bachata, merengue, salsa, West African, hip hop, and South Korean fan dance. The students learn various dance techniques and create their own choreography in my class as well. Thanks to supporters like you, my students can experience increased health and wellbeing in my classroom as they learn and grow as people, students, and dancers.”

Funded Aug 14, 2024Thank you so much for your generous support of my students and my classroom. The kiddos were grateful and thrilled to have a steady supply of snacks for our classes for the months that the supplies lasted. Thanks to your help, the students had access to high quality snacks that they would otherwise not have access to. Beyond being grateful, the students genuinely need additional support to access an adequate amount of calories for the day to not only support their learning but also to support their fundamental physical and mental wellbeing. The students also view dance as one of their safe spaces on campus and part of that safe space includes being able to have their basic needs met.

Funded Oct 9, 2023Thank you so much for your contributions to GCS's Rainbow Club. The students have greatly benefited from the items we received by way of your donations. The students proudly posted LGBTQ+ Pride posters around campus and created Rainbow Club pins for themselves and others. The students also enjoy the bean bag chairs and have used them to create a comfortable and welcoming space for others to join the Rainbow Club. Thanks to your contributions, the students have been able to share their sentiment of support for the LGBTQ+ students on campus with many folks on campus, even through passing out pride pins and posting welcoming signs around campus. Rainbow Club participation has increased in the past couple of months and students/staff are having more fruitful conversations about the importance of inclusivity and being an effective ally to our students, friends, and family members of the LGBTQ+ community. Thank you for helping to make our school a safer space for students and helping this important club on campus grow.”
