  • The Youngest Authors!

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

Thanks so much for providing my students with materials to enhance their writing skills. I’m so excited to see what they write and share!

This is going to be a great year with opportunities to share what they write with their classmates and families. I’m grateful for you all.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jankovich

  • Here Are My Pictures!

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Thanks so much for donating to "Here are my Pictures ". The children love taking photos, especially of each other. My co-teacher and I used these cameras to take photos that could instantly be used for projects. The students put photos in Holiday ornaments, Valentine's cards, and stories about their friends. They were far more excited about projects when it included using the cameras.

I was grateful for the extra paper, because once the kids got started, they kept clicking away. They were sometimes too eager, and saw that the were taking pictures of nothing, or at least not what they wanted. The secondary benefit of practicing patients and impulse control was helpful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jankovich

  • Take Good Care of my Baby!

    Funded Sep 26, 2019

My students were so very excited when we added the new materials to our dramatic play area. They are still learning how to care for our classroom materials, and reminding them that babies shouldn't be on the floor, has helped teach them about where things belong.

When I asked for the cleaning supplies, mop, broom etc., I didn't realize that they would be used to clean real messes, but they have been! I no longer have to ask them to sweep up a mess they made, they just go get a broom and dust pan and get it done. This usually happens with another student, promoting team work.

    These materials have enhanced lives.”

  • Wiggle Worms Can Pay Attention!

    Funded Aug 15, 2019

I want to let you know that we are using the resources you donated multiple times a day. The students always use either the seating choices and/or the sensory manipulatives during our read-aloud time. These options have made even reluctant students come to the rug for story/group time. When they have something in their hands, they are no longer touching those around them, or trying to get attention from their peers. It gives them something to do with their hands while attending to the story, or teaching moment.

They can choose the seating while playing in their Areas of Interest. We also have a calming corner that has a basket full of sensory manipulatives for when they are having trouble and need to regroup emotionally.

When we first got the materials, they were all very excited to try all of the manipulatives, and sit in the cube chairs. The cube chairs are very popular, maybe because there is a limited number, so we have a rotating schedule for students to take turns.

I will probably try to get more cube chairs, and the students will continue to use the manipulatives to help them stay calm and focused when needed.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jankovich

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Mar 23, 2009

I hope to convey to you my gratitude for your generous donation to our classroom.  My students LOVE the personal amplification system, or as they simply say "the microphone".  We used it to present our poetry, and have come to find many more uses.  They love to read aloud now that they can do it on the microphone.  I am also using this great tool to give the spelling tests.  This seems to have made even spelling tests more fun.

I am sure I will continue to find new ways to use this great tool in our classroom.  Each time I can make any activity more fun, it also becomes a better learning activity.

You have made learning for my students more enjoyable, and I thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jankovich

  • Poetry Project Memories

    Funded Feb 18, 2009

I hope to convey my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom.  The video camera was a great way to capture our Poetry Slam.  The students were all trying to perform their best because they knew we were making a video.  They are so excited about having their own DVDs to keep.  I know they will enjoy watching it for years to come.

I strongly believe that these materials not only enhanced their Literacy skills, but will continue to assist them in the enjoyment of poetry for years to come.

Thank you so very much for your help.  My children and I really appreciate your gifts.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jankovich

  • Primary Poets

    Funded Jan 9, 2009

Thank you so very much for funding my project. My students will be thrilled to have their own materials when we do our poetry project. I know from experience that when students are provided with materials, they are more engaged in the projects at hand. I am confident that these children will be more invested in the project because they have all that they need to be successful. I am now even more excited about this year's Poetry Project and Slam.

    I really appreciate your help”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jankovich

  • BUGGING OUT!

    Funded May 4, 2009

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my students.  I know that these materials will help them better connect to nature.  The books will help them improve their reading skills while allowing them to read content that they find interesting.  The hands-on models of insects will assist them in better understanding the physical characteristics of insects.

I know these materials will greatly assist my students in their learning.  I plan to use these materials annually, allowing for many more students to experience these materials.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jankovich

  • Reading Comprehension Games Library

    Funded May 31, 2007

I am so excited about having this wish fulfilled. I can't wait to use

these special reading games with my students next year. Many

children in our community don't know the benefits of playing

board games, and to have it be academically enriching too is a bonus. I am very grateful for this gift.

    Sincerely,

    Maeva O'Hara ”
