Print Making for K-1st!
Funded Oct 9, 2023Thank you so much for funding the supplies for students to create prints using crayola markers and styrofoam plates. Cranberry Elementary is a Title One School. Many families are living pay check to pay check. Most cannot afford extra supplies for "arts and crafts" time at home. Receiving this shipment of styrofoam trays and a class set of crayola markers has given me the opportunity to show the kids how to do printmaking activities with a limited amount of supplies. I want to not only teach the students the techniques of this type of art, but to also show them how they can recreate the process at home.
First, I began this project by finding internet resources to share with the students. I found inspiration print pictures and videos demonstrating the process. After that, I showed the students the massive shipment of styrofoam trays. To say they were excited to make their own "reusable stamp" was an understatement. Further, the students made the connection between us having the new supplies and that they could recycle meat trays from the grocery store to recreate this project at home.
The students are so excited to create their own unique drawing for the print making process. To use brand new supplies was so exciting for them!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Turner
