Build Community through Cooperation
Funded Sep 20, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The students are really enjoying being able to use their imagination to build and create.
Additionally, the students are learning how to problem solve when at first their structures do not balance, they are able to think of how to recreate the structure in order to make it work.
Also, the kids are enjoying playing the new games that have been added to the classroom. They are learning to take turns and how to have appropriate reactions when they do not win the game they are playing.
Finally, the level of social conversation the students are engaging in has really grown. They are gotten to see how much they have in common with each other. This has led to a supportive and calm environment within the classroom.
Again, thank you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Harris
This classroom project was brought to life by The Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation and one other donor.Hands On Math
Funded Dec 19, 2023Thank you so much for donating to my project "Hands On Math." From the moment the boxes arrived in the classroom, my students were so excited to see what was inside. After the unveiling of the math materials, the students were eagerly waiting to explore them.
With the multiplication games, the students are able to practice their facts in a different way. The other math materials are allowing them to get a hands on experience of seeing the math in action. From breaking numbers apart into place values, to creating fractions, the students are able to clearly see the abstract concepts that we are learning about.
Again, thank you so much for helping to bring these experiences into my classroom. I can't tell you the level of enthusiasm the students have when I bring out the games and activities. Being able to take the math out of the book, really helps to make math fun.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Harris
