  • Print Bright, Learn Bright: Enhancing Learning With Color All Around!

    Funded Nov 14, 2024

I wanted to take a moment to share how your generous support has transformed my classroom and enhanced my students' learning experiences. The printer, sentence strips, markers, and double-sided tape you provided have made a significant difference in our daily activities.

In today's digital world, many of our students thrive when they can integrate technology with hands-on learning. The printer allows them to print colorful visuals and projects that make lessons more engaging and accessible. By using sentence strips, we can create interactive activities that reinforce literacy skills, allowing students to visualize their thoughts and collaborate more effectively.

The excitement in the classroom has been palpable! My students are particularly enthusiastic about the markers; they love expressing their creativity during projects and presentations. The combination of these materials has encouraged them to take ownership of their learning and fostered a collaborative environment where they can share ideas freely.

I've noticed some students who previously struggled with traditional learning methods have flourished with this new technology. For instance, one student who often felt overwhelmed by writing tasks has gained confidence by using sentence strips to organize his thoughts visually before transferring them to paper. It's heartwarming to see how this technology encourages all students to participate actively and feel valued in their learning journey.

Thank you once again for your generosity. Your support empowers my students to engage deeply with their education and discover new ways to express themselves.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Corniel

  • Math Manipulatives to Enhance my Student's Learning!

    Funded Oct 12, 2024

We have been incorporating the new resources into our geometry unit, and it has truly transformed our learning experience. Recently, we completed a project where students used the Tangrams and tracing paper to create their own geometric designs. They worked in small groups to measure and replicate various shapes, which sparked a lot of creativity and collaboration. The magnetic graphing boards allowed us to visualize transformations, and the algebra tiles were instrumental when we introduced concepts like area and perimeter.

When my students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement! They were particularly drawn to the bright colors of the Tangrams and the versatility of the graphing magnetic boards. Many students exclaimed, "Can we use these right now?" Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it really motivated them to dive into our activities with curiosity and eagerness.

As we continue with our geometry unit, the next steps will involve applying what they've learned to real-world scenarios. Students will start a group project where they'll design a floor plan for a classroom using the algebra tiles to represent different areas. They'll need to calculate the area and perimeter of individual sections, drawing from the skills they've developed with the new resources. This project not only reinforces their understanding of geometric concepts but also encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking. I'm excited to see how they integrate these materials into their designs!”

  • Fun With Shapes In Geometry!

    Funded Jun 23, 2024

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contributions to our classroom project focused on enhancing our geometry unit through the use of physical geometry shapes. Your support has made a profound impact on both my teaching and my students' learning experiences.

Since the arrival of the new resources, my students and I have been actively engaging with the geometric shapes in various ways. One specific project that stands out was our recent unit on surface area and volume. We organized a hands-on workshop where each student received different 3D shapes such as rectangular prisms, cubes, and cylinders. The students worked collaboratively in small groups to build models with the shapes and calculate their surface areas and volumes.

The excitement in the classroom was palpable. As soon as the students saw the new materials, their eyes lit up. They couldn't wait to get their hands on the shapes, and it was wonderful to witness their enthusiasm. Many students initially expressed surprise at how real and tangible the concepts of geometry could be. This immediate reaction set a positive tone for the entire project, and it was clear that the hands-on approach sparked their curiosity and interest in the subject matter. They began exploring the shapes, measuring their sides, and discussing strategies for calculating the surface area and volume in a way that I had never seen before.

As we delved deeper into the project, I encouraged them to think critically about the relationships between the shapes. For instance, they compared the surface areas of different shapes and discussed why certain prisms might have larger surface areas than others, even if their volumes were similar. This led to rich discussions that extended beyond mere calculations, as students began to understand the underlying principles of geometry more profoundly.

Moreover, I am excited to report that the engagement continues to thrive. Students are consistently eager to participate in discussions and share their insights, and many have expressed a newfound appreciation for geometry. I've noticed an uptick in collaborative teamwork as they learn to communicate their ideas effectively and support each other in problem-solving.

In closing, I want to thank you once again for your invaluable support. The impact of your generosity is evident in the enthusiastic participation and deeper understanding of geometry displayed by my students. The journey we are on together is making a lasting difference in their education, and I look forward to sharing the outcomes of our Geometry Fair with you soon.”

  • Technology guiding our classroom!

    Funded Feb 14, 2024

Your support means the world to us and has made a significant difference in the lives of our students.

The technology you have provided has had a profound impact on our students' learning experiences. With the headphones, our students are able to engage more fully with their laptops, accessing educational resources, participating in online classes, and collaborating with their peers with greater clarity and focus. The ability to immerse themselves in their studies without distraction has enhanced their learning outcomes and productivity.

What excites our students most about the new headphones is the quality of sound they provide. Many of them come from environments where distractions are plentiful, so having headphones that drown out external noise allows them to concentrate better on their tasks. Additionally, the comfort and durability of the headphones have been a pleasant surprise for our students, ensuring they can use them for extended periods without discomfort.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and support. Your donation has made a tangible difference in the lives of our students, empowering them to succeed academically and beyond.”

  • We are Mathematicians!

    Funded Jan 18, 2024

I can't say enough how grateful my students and I are. These materials have made a big difference in our classroom. The donated materials, including a color printer, dry erase markers, and manipulatives for counting, have greatly enhanced the learning experience in my math ICT classroom. The color printer allows me to create visually engaging materials such as colorful worksheets, charts, and diagrams, which help reinforce mathematical concepts and facilitate comprehension, especially for English Language Learners (ELLs). The ability to print in color adds an interactive element to lessons, making abstract mathematical concepts more tangible and accessible to students. Additionally, the dry erase markers enable students to actively participate in problem-solving activities on the whiteboard, encouraging collaboration and peer interaction. This hands-on approach not only promotes mathematical understanding but also enhances students' language development as they articulate their problem-solving strategies.

One of the most exciting aspects of the donated materials for my students is the manipulatives for counting. These hands-on tools provide a tactile and visual representation of mathematical concepts, allowing students to explore and manipulate numbers in a concrete way. ELLs particularly benefit from the use of manipulatives as they bridge the gap between abstract mathematical symbols and real-world objects, helping to build a solid foundation in mathematical understanding. The manipulatives make learning math more engaging and interactive, sparking students' curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring mathematical concepts. They provide a multisensory learning experience that caters to diverse learning styles and abilities, making math more accessible and enjoyable for all students in the classroom.”
