The Best Days Are Lab Days!
Funded Oct 7, 2023I wanted to reach out again and thank you for your support of Pinkston Middle School's science lab project. As soon as the project was funded (and before we had even received our shelves) we started planning our first big project to utilize them. We had all of our student's individually build seismograph models to share with their families at Parent Teacher conferences.
Prior to the funding of this Donor's Choose project, we would have had to complete these as group projects due to a lack of storage space. The kids would have had to work in groups of up to 6 students per seismograph and that still would have pushed us beyond the limits of what we could store. As you can imagine, in a group of 6, not everyone gets to have the meaningful learning experience they deserve. This year, every student was able to create, test, and present their model. They were able to personalize their project design and decorate the finished project in an aesthetic that was personal to them. We could never have done that without your donation.
Recently, our Honor's students competed in a Shark Tank style project where they picked an element from the Periodic Table to research extensively. They had to develop a sales pitch and presentation to present before a panel of community judges (which included college professors, the superintendent of schools, and even the Mayor). These shelves allowed them to have a safe place to store all their materials between classes.
Your donation has definitely made an impact in the learning opportunities we are now able to bring to our students. We no longer have to say "No" to a project because we don't have a place to store them. We can say "YES" to so many more labs, projects, and learning opportunities. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your support of our students. If you could meet them, I know you would love them and be so proud of all that they are learning.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Horn
