Camera Needed for Photography Class
Funded May 14, 2016Dear Donors,
We are so excited to begin using the new camera we received for our photography class. I teach two photography classes at my high school, with a total or 31 students. Budgets are tight, and equipment is hard to come by - we only have three cameras for our class. Now we have added number 4 thanks to you!
Most of my students have only ever used their cell phones to take pictures. In my photography class, they gain hands-on experience with high quality DSLR cameras. They have been having a great time learning how to take "real" pictures that look professional. My students love to stay moving, and their favorite day is photo field trip day, where they get to roam the campus and discover new scenes to capture. I now have enough cameras for students to work in small groups taking turns. Of course, some students are more comfortable in front of the camera!
My photography students are in charge of our yearbook, and this new camera will allow us more flexibility with our portraits, sports photos, and "around campus" shots - more cameras equals more pictures!! I know your gift will truly help these young people have an experience they might not otherwise have, and I'm sure they will always remember how much fun they had learning about photography in high school. This camera will be used for many years to come, and will continue to provide hours and hours of hands-on learning for current and future students. Thank you so much for your generosity!”

A Great Art Class Needs a Great Digital Camera
Funded Dec 7, 2011It appears our thank you package may be late in arriving to you - many apologies. Your generous donation has truly been appreciated by myself and my students. We have been using the camera almost every day and it is wonderful. Each class has had an opportunity to do some photography, and several students have shown a real interest and talent for taking great pictures.
I strive each year to provide meaningful experiences for my art students, and this donation will make that job much easier. Students naturally love photographs - I think they like being IN them more than taking them!
My school wants to offer photography as a course next year, in no small part due to your generosity. I hope to acquire another camera or two eventually, but in the meantime we will very much enjoy and appreciate the one we have. Digital Presenter Needed for Art Lessons
Funded Apr 22, 2011Wow - what a tremendous teaching tool you have placed in my hands. We have had our Elmo projector for three days now, and I have been using it in each class every day. The students are so engaged when they can watch close-up demonstrations of art techniques. Even in this first week of school, it has helped convey simple concepts in an easy-to-grasp way. I know that as our year goes on this tool will be used over and over in class. You have helped make my job easier and more effective. Please accept my sincerest expression of thanks!”

Dreaming of a High School String Quartet!!
Funded Mar 31, 2011It is truly impossible to adequately express how much this gift will be appreciated by my students and myself. The instruments arrived just before the end of last school year, but my students were able to begin lessons with me over the summer. Now we are beginning the new school year, and they are looking forward to performing soon. It is so exciting to see them becoming interested in music, and I know that your generosity in giving this gift will sow the seeds which may change these young lives for the better. Copier/Printer Needed for Art Class
Funded May 26, 2010Imagine my excitement when this project got funded! Thank you all so very much - you have helped me expand my students' resources even further. We have needed a copier for quite some time in my Art and Drama classes. The day it arrived, my Drama students were already using it to make copies of their skits they'd been writing. Now everyone can always have their own script and we can share ideas easily with each other. Plus it is such a joy to see them working with the technology.
My Art classes will benefit hugely as well, as I can now make copies immediately when a student sees something he or she is interested in.

Digital Touchscreen LCD Needed For Art Class
Funded Dec 8, 2009We got our Cintiq hooked up to my Mac this week, and I must say I was completely blown away! This is one of the best tools for teaching art I have ever seen. I still have to learn a few things about it, but my students have already begun using it to do drawings. They absolutely love it! As a teacher, the best moments come when you see your students get excited about working, and this Cintiq has definitely got them fired up.
As a teaching tool, it will be invaluable for quickly showing concepts about line and shape, color mixing, sketch building, and painting/blending (no mess, no set-up time = more time to teach!), and my students will have the opportunity to create digital artwork, learn about photo-editing, and they will feel more comfortable with the technology being used in today's world.
I have some students who are more advanced, and they are eager to "teach" what they know to the rest of the class, so I can set them up with the Cintiq and digital projector and let them put on a show. I also plan to have visiting artists do demos, and this will be exactly what they need for quick, easy, and effective presentations. I have been dreaming about a Cintiq since I began teaching 7 years ago, but never thought I could afford it. Thank you all so much for your generosity and for making this dream come true. I have been steadily acquiring tools and technology through DonorsChoose, and this interactive whiteboard is the main piece that will pull all of my other art class technology together. We have been using our school media center's SmartBoard, but now my students will have their very own in class, every day! As an art teacher, I cannot overstate how much hands-on learning this will provide for my students. You have truly made a HUGE difference in these young lives, and we thank you most sincerely!”

Funded Dec 16, 2009Our auditorium came to life this week when we installed our new lights! My drama students were absolutely ecstatic, and it took me a while to get their attention back to rehearsal!! Your donations have helped me reach a major goal for our school. Our outdated auditorium has been in need of this for years and years.
The lights look beautiful, and we can't wait to see them in action during a performance. We have several programs coming up this spring, including our annual choir concert, and our new lights will help these wonderful students truly "shine."

We've already had a "show" at our school where we displayed a lot of mounted work. Their artwork looks so good and they are so proud of their paintings and drawings. Wireless Mics for Drama Class
