Electric Guitars for Future Stars
Funded Dec 7, 2024I'm excited to share with you that we have had the guitars in the classroom for almost a month now and they have been played every day in all 3 of my Modern Band classes as well as my after school music class. Students are loving them and their skills are growing! For example, just yesterday I heard a student telling another one, "Hey, I finally got barre chords down!" (A type of chord that uses 1 finger to hold down multiple strings at the same time. They're challenging, but once students get them figured out, it really expands their playing ability).
Thank you so much for giving my students these guitars and the joy and sense of accomplishment that comes with learning to play them!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Green

Funded Feb 23, 2025I am thrilled to announce that this project has been fully funded! The students at Luther Burbank High School are getting a digital piano!! This is going to elevate our performances for years to come. I’m grateful to each and every one of you and I know that your kindness will have an impact on my students’ lives. Thank you for your willingness to support music education!”

Double the Drum, Double the Drummers
Funded Jan 17, 2025We did it! I just received notification that this project was fully funded. We're going to be able to double the drummers in our music program now, thanks to you! I am deeply grateful and I know my students will be too.
It is inspiring and heartwarming to see the kindness of strangers (as well as one of my colleagues) and your willingness to give so that we can bring music and music education to more deserving young people. Many of you found this project through the the "Music Makes Our Students Smarter" giving page. What a wonderful thing!
Regardless of how you learned about this project, thank you for making it successful. Thank you for providing my students with a second electronic drum kit (and a stool for both of our electronic drum kits) and thank you for reminding me that the world is full of good people taking action to make it even better!”

Give the Band a Drum Kit!
Funded Nov 6, 2024thanks to your generosity, we were able to give the band an electronic drum kit (and amplifier). I teach 3 sections of Modern Band and an after-school music class and every day in each of those classes I have students using that kit. They are already starting to make progress!
Not only is the drum kit helping individual students learn to play drums, it is benefitting all of the students in all of 3 of my Modern Band classes because now we are able to practice and perform songs as a class and have live drums played by students in the class! The most recent song we started working on is "Calma" by Pedro Capo. I want you to know it was sounding pretty good with those drums!
We've also been working on our rhythm transcription skills (writing down the rhythms that we hear played) and I've been having our drummers play drum patterns while the rest of the class tries to write down what they think they're hearing. So everyone's musicianship is improving thanks to your donations. Thank you so much!!”

Help Our Guitar Class Go Electric
Funded Nov 28, 2023I want to let you know how grateful my students and I are for the two electric guitars and amplifiers that we received thanks to your donations! They have been a hit! Several students have been able to play electric guitar for the first time. It's so fun to see--and, of course, to hear! One student in particular, who is really into the blues, has enjoyed being able to play his songs on an electric guitar. And man, his blues solos are really developing now that he can bend and sustain those notes the way that you can only do with an electric guitar!
I'm so excited that my students now have access to electric guitars. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Green
