I want to thank you deeply for your donation of the congas bongos and cowbell. The instruments have enriched our classroom discussions, free time during lunch and our school wide cultural events.
The instruments have united students from Bangladesh, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, The Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, Ghana and Nigeria through organic jam sessions. Students who are normally very shy and reserved have found joy the instruments so much so that they created a band named "Little Fania" in homage to The Fania All Stars of New York City and Puerto Rico. It has helped them take pride in their own cultures and identities post COVID.
The instruments are a permanent fixture in my classroom adding to the decor in a beautiful and impactful way.
It is with deep gratitude that I thank you all for your donations. The school and my classroom will never be the same and have been forever impacted by your generosity.”
