Empowering ELL Students Through Project-Based Instruction

Recognizing and Rewarding My ESOL Students for Their Hard work.
Funded Mar 22, 2024The certificates had a profoundly positive impact on my ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students, serving as a tangible recognition of their hard work and determination throughout the school year. These certificates became powerful motivators, encouraging my students to persist in their efforts to overcome the challenges of learning a new language.
Firstly, the certificates provided a sense of accomplishment and pride. For many ESOL students, the journey of mastering English can be fraught with difficulties, from grasping complex grammar rules to expanding their vocabulary. The certificates symbolized their achievements, reinforcing the idea that their efforts were seen, valued, and celebrated. This recognition helped to boost their self-esteem and confidence, which are crucial components in the learning process. When students feel confident, they are more likely to participate actively in class, ask questions, and engage with the material, leading to a more enriching educational experience.
The certificates fostered a sense of community and belonging within the classroom. Each award ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate individual and collective successes. Students cheered for one another, creating an environment of mutual support and encouragement. This camaraderie is particularly important for ESOL students, who may feel isolated due to language barriers. Funded Oct 1, 2023I'm blown away by your generosity! My students and I were very excited to receive all the materials we needed to have a magical evening of diversity and literacy!
The donations that you provided allowed my students to share their short stories and classroom projects with their parents during our Thanksgiving feast. We were able to create a literacy gallery thanks to the materials you funded. The night was magical, the parents were very impressed and proud to see their children speaking and writing in English. Without your donations this magical night would not have been possible.

Culturally Diverse and Loving Loudly
Funded Sep 21, 2023I cannot fully express my appreciation and gratitude for all of your donations to my project. It is great to see all the support for my students, school, and community that you have shown.
The supplies that have funded made our Thanksgiving feast a memorable evening, filled with beautiful decorations, diversity and literacy. My students worked so hard and that thanks to the black card stock and easels I was able to display their literary works for their parents to enjoy.
