Supplies for a School-Based Occupational Therapist!
Funded Sep 17, 2023The impact of the materials I have received has been great! The most significant
gift was the set up materials for a Calming Corner, or as I like to call it, the Sensory Corner. This area of my classroom is a place for students to calm their body to sit and enjoy the space and limit their sensory input as needed. It is a quiet space where students can sit, read, relax, play with fidget toys, or anything they need to regulate
their sensory experience. This area has become valuable to me and my students. The canopy, pillows, beanbags, baskets of fidget toys and books all help to create an ideal sensory experience.
The other supplies, particularly the stepping stones, the sensory tunnels, and wobbly discs also allow for students with sensory seeking behaviors to access the classroom with these materials to allow them the physical input they require. The dry erase boards, the board games and tweezers have helped with my students with fine/visual motor or handwriting challenges in particular.
As I am an occupational therapist and my job is also to work in tandem with my student's classroom teachers, I also gave supplies to the PALs (preschool for all leaners) and the SLD classrooms, such as dry erase boards, wiggle feet, balloon rocket kit, sensory toys, markers, weighted lap pad, etc. These items are invaluable to the classroom teachers as well to help their students with occupational therapy goals.
Thank you from the bottom on my heart for your donations. These items have helped make a difference in the lives of my students!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Diana
