The items on our class list had made such a HUGE impact on our Social/Emotional classroom in many ways. When giant boxes of our calming area materials started coming in, the whole class was in shock. Boxes started piling on the side of the room and we played a guessing games of "What's in the boxes?" Which they loved! Starting from our calming corner set, our students actually want to go in our calming area to take 5 minutes to themselves. They work very hard to they get a turn in the calming area. The snacks the school provides are healthy options. They offer apples, oranges and peaches etc. Some of our students don't like fruit or don't bring their own into school. When the snacks arrived they can earn them everyday for snack time by following classroom expectations and rules as well as bringing one home with them for later. Our students have been working very hard everyday to earn that special snack at snack time and has helped them stay focused and driven in the classroom. Since we have gotten other classroom materials and our GIANT rainbow rug, our students have been getting along, not arguing over sharing classroom materials since we didn't have enough to go around. But now we do! They love coming to the rainbow rug for story time and independent work where they can lay down and complete worksheets.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Galego
