Creativity in Color
Funded Feb 20, 2024These new tools have been excellent for the students during our weekly Mindful Monday mandalas. Students were excited to use the variety of colors, some color shades they haven't colored with before. Coloring at the start of the day sets a positive tone for the students, and cultivates peace, calm, and continued positivity throughout their day.
The next activity I plan on doing with the students is practicing Zentangle art with them during Mindful Monday using the tools provided. Zentangle is great for maintaining focus on the current task at hand, and is fun and easy to learn the different patterns.”

Mega Manga Graphic Novel Collection
Funded Oct 18, 2023The addition of these books in our classroom library has been great for my students engagement with independent reading, and bringing new emotions like excitement for reading time. Since these specific books were requested, students know that their thoughts and opinions are heard throughout their education.
Reading in our classroom looks like 30 minutes of independent reading in the classroom setting as well as daily assigned homework of reading 30 minutes at home. During lunch/recess students are able to check out books from the library so that they can continue reading during leisure periods. I am certain that reading stamina and vocabulary will increase, for their personal benefit and their English Language Arts state exams.”

Funded Sep 13, 2023Upon receiving the materials students were excited to get into cursive writing. We all cheered when the books were brought into the room. We had been waiting for this moment collectively, students were eager to create their signatures. We have been utilizing these workbooks during Social Emotional Learning (SEL) class and have been allowing the students to complete the pages at their own pace, reviewing each page upon completion and giving them feedback on their writing performance to improve their writing.
Some next steps we will be taking with the students are creating their signatures. and practicing how to write checks. We are considering having a role-play activity so the students can have fun while they learn. Students will learn to write checks and cash in their checks for a snack of their choice when they have completed the activity.”
