Student Engagement
Funded Oct 8, 2024I reach out to you with immense gratitude. My project for my students was fully funded, the games have been received and my students are now enjoying your donations. We spend at least one day every other week where I ask my students to keep the computers put away and play board games with their classmates. Some of these games have provided me with opportunities to teach my students new ones. It also provides me with opportunities to hop in and play games with my students allowing them to see me as a person beyond just their teacher.
Your generous donation has made a great impact on my students. They are always asking me when I am opening the board game cupboard. They are communicating with one another, learning how to play new games with complicated rules and having fun with one another to start their school day. My next steps are encouraging them and structuring ways for them to play games with classmates that they do not normally play with. I really appreciate you aiding me in my journey to to eliminate my pet peeve, having a class that doesn't know each other's names at the end of the school year.”

Funded Oct 7, 2024Thank you for believing in my students and the mission engaging students as best as I can in my classroom. My students across all 3 classes love the wobble stools. We have developed a routine in class where students can swap out the stool for their chair so that they can decide to use the stools without disrupting class. Pretty regularly all 3 stools are used in my classes.
The seat cushion is a great alternative for the couple of desks that have attached chairs. I can see a noticeable difference in my students that just need to wiggle. They are using the stools more and poking or irritating their fellow classmates less. This works well with the classroom space that I am provided at school to maximize student egagement.
Thank you for helping me to adapt and accomodate my students' needs in class.”

Funded May 15, 2024It is with immense gratitude that I tell you how excited I am to provide these science materials for my students to have the opportunity to do more hands on science in class. I predicate my teaching style as being highly engaging as I get my students involved in hands on experimentation with science concepts. I really enjoy seeing my students getting excited about talking science and discovering how these concepts work for themselves. Thank you for providing such a wonderful opportunity for my students and my teaching partners students as well.”

Funded Nov 29, 2023I cannot express my gratitude enough. My current math curriculum lends well to encouraging discovery based learning and math discourse. Having vertical whiteboards allows students the comfort of making easily erasable mistakes and working in small groups while maintaining accountability as I can see what each group is doing from anywhere in the room.
Currently we use the whiteboards to do a problem at the beginning of class a couple times a week and during the refine lessons to practice and get ready for quizzes. I highly encourage my students to "cheat" and look at each other's work to encourage collaboration. My students wouldn't be nearly as engaged from their seats sitting in groups. I am excited to see their engagement and growth continue.”

Funded Sep 15, 2023Our school continues to move forward in our mindfulness practice. The mindful breathing stickers have been incorporated into our daily practice at school with videos while we do our breathing. I have caught students using the stickers while taking a break from class for a minute on their own.
It continues to amaze me at the power these mindful activities have with refocusing our students, especially on days where the energy is high and the focus is low. Moving forward we are working on making these ractices more explicit and intentional so that students may understand how this strategy is useful outside of just my classroom and can be used without the sticker as well.”
