Make Art Great
Funded Nov 7, 2024I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation to our DonorsChoose project. Thanks to your support, my students now have access to the essential materials they need to explore and express their creativity in new ways.
Because of your contribution, my students not only have the basic supplies required for their projects, but they also have exciting new materials like markers and other fun tools that they don't typically get to use. These additions are already making a huge difference in the quality of their work and, most importantly, in their excitement about art. It's inspiring to see how these new materials spark their imagination and encourage them to experiment and create freely.
Your kindness has truly enriched their educational experience, and I can't thank you enough for making this possible. I'm excited to continue watching their creativity flourish, and it's all because of your generosity.
Thank you once again for making a positive impact on their lives!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Yanosick
New Teacher, Fresh Art Materials
Funded Nov 9, 2023My students have been using our new resources excitedly! Everyday we get the wonderful opportunity to explore new materials and how to use them. As a new teacher, it can be hard to gather the appropriate amount of materials so that students have the proper education on different art supplies. Because of my donors, my students have an overflowing amount of markers, paint, paper, and all the other necessary materials to create beautiful work.
For Black History Month, we have been learning about important Black artists. We created "story quilts" inspired by Faith Ringgold using origami paper. We have created Kehinde Wiley inspired self-portraits.
My art foundation students finished creating gridded self-portraits. We utilized our new rulers, paper, and pens to learn how to draw proportionally accurate photos. We have begun learning about the color wheel and color relationships. Students were given the liberty to create a color wheel with the creative liberty of materials.
I'm beyond thankful to see my students get to expand their art knowledge. They love getting to explore with different materials and it makes each day exciting!”

Let's Paint!
Funded Oct 4, 2023Students are loving all the projects we have done with the paint materials. We have created abstract string art where students trace a string and color in the spaces with watercolor. Students have created fun holiday scenes and animals. Painting is a specific way students can benefit from learning with learning disabilities. We have painted shapes, created patterns, and learned about color. Art inspires students to express their feelings without the need to speak.
Students were extremely excited when I brought out all the new painting materials. We had only been using markers and pencils until I was gifted all the materials through Donors Choose. Students were excited to experience a more hands-on way to create different works of art. My students especially love using acrylic paint as it can be messy and brighten up a work of art. For my students with learning disabilities, using a paintbrush is a great resource to enhance fine motor skills.
My next step is for my students to create larger scale artworks. I want to partake in creating a community mural in the school or in the community. My students have stated how much calming painting is and enjoy the process. I am excited to expand my students paint skills and see their growth as artists!”
