  • Top Tools to Tackle Any Task

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Triangular pencils and large crayons are fantastic tools for helping MY pre-K students develop their fine motor skills, as their shape and size make them easier to grip and control. These tools allow young children to practice the foundational movements they need for writing, all while building hand strength and coordination. In addition, simple tools like masking tape have been a game-changer in our classroom management—placing tape lines on the floor helps guide students into neat rows, making transitions smoother and quicker. Cut-out frogs and stickers bring joy and motivation to tracking student achievement, as each mark on their progress chart is a celebration of their hard work. Thank you to our generous donors for providing these materials, which have truly enriched our classroom experience!”

  • Empowering Early Explorers: A Project to Expand PreK Science Tools

    Funded May 8, 2024

I am writing to share with you the remarkable impact that the introduction of Design & Build Engineering Centers, magnetic wands, star puzzles, and a Creative Mosaic Drill Set has had on the development and learning journey of our pre-K students.

Firstly, the Design & Build Engineering Centers have been instrumental in fostering creativity and problem-solving skills among our young learners. By providing them with hands-on opportunities to construct and create, these centers have encouraged critical thinking and spatial reasoning abilities. Through experimenting with different shapes, sizes, and structures, our students have gained a deeper understanding of basic engineering principles, laying a strong foundation for future STEM learning.

The magnetic wands have captivated the curiosity of our students and sparked their interest in the wonders of magnetism. Through engaging activities and experiments, they have explored the concepts of attraction and repulsion, as well as the properties of different materials. This hands-on approach to learning has not only enhanced their scientific knowledge but has also improved their fine motor skills as they manipulate the wands to interact with various magnetic objects.

The star puzzles have proven to be invaluable tools for promoting cognitive development and problem-solving skills. As our students manipulate the pieces to form different patterns and shapes, they are enhancing their spatial awareness and logical thinking abilities. Moreover, the collaborative nature of these puzzles encourages teamwork and communication, fostering social skills that are essential for future academic and personal success.

Finally, the Creative Mosaic Drill Set has provided our students with a unique outlet for artistic expression while simultaneously strengthening their fine motor skills. By using the drill to create intricate designs and patterns, they are refining their hand-eye coordination and concentration. Furthermore, the tactile experience of working with the mosaic pieces has stimulated their senses and fostered a love for creative expression.

In summary, the introduction of these innovative tools has had a transformative effect on our pre-K students' development and learning. From fostering creativity and problem-solving skills to enhancing fine motor skills and scientific understanding, each tool has played a vital role in shaping their educational journey. As educators, we are excited to continue exploring new ways to enrich the learning experience of our students and empower them to reach their full potential.

Thank you for your support in providing our students with access to these invaluable resources.”

  • Clearly Outstanding

    Funded Dec 30, 2023

The integration of Magna-Tiles, translucent letters, and building sets on a light table has had a profound impact on the learning experiences of my bilingual four-year-old students. This innovative approach to early childhood education combining tactile exploration with visual stimulation has fostered a rich learning environment that catered to diverse learning styles and linguistic backgrounds.

The use of Magna-Tiles provided children with hands-on opportunities to explore basic principles of geometry, spatial reasoning, and structural engineering. The magnetic nature of the tiles allowed for easy manipulation and experimentation, empowering my students to construct various shapes, patterns, and structures. Through this tactile engagement, students have developed fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts, all while engaging in meaningful play.

Incorporating translucent letters onto the light table added an extra dimension to literacy development. As children arranged the letters on the illuminated surface, they were not only honing their fine motor skills but also engaging in letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and early spelling activities. The combination of tactile feedback and visual feedback created a multisensory learning experience that was particularly effective for bilingual learners, as it allowed them to make connections between sounds and symbols in both languages.

Additionally, the use of building sets such as blocks, or interlocking pieces further enhanced the learning opportunities provided by the light table. These materials have encouraged collaborative play and cooperation among my students as they worked together to construct elaborate structures.

Overall, the integration of Magna-Tiles, translucent letters, and building sets on a light table offered a dynamic and versatile platform for my bilingual four-year-old students to explore key concepts in mathematics, literacy, and social-emotional development. By leveraging the benefits of tactile, visual, and collaborative learning experiences, I have been able to create a rich and engaging environment that nurtures the cognitive and linguistic growth of young learners in meaningful and impactful ways.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gomez
