"Namaste" Yoga in the Classroom!
Funded Feb 6, 2017We received the yoga mats last week. The students were so excited and couldn't wait to try them out. We had our 5th grade PE rotations on Friday and the kids couldn't wait to open up the boxes and carry their yoga mats out to the yard. We did three twenty minute rotations and you could see the excitement in their faces when they came to my station. All the students were engaged and their favorite part was the closing and relaxation sequence. Even the teachers were impressed with how focused their students were throughout the class. They continued to talk about the class throughout the rest of the day. The other grade levels were also curious about the mats and excited to come to 5th grade next year.
These yoga mats gave the students the opportunity to experience something new in the area of physical fitness. It gave them tools for stress relief, an improved state of mind and better physical health. It also allowed them to practice on a designated space outside the classroom.
My students and I are very grateful for your donation.”

We Love To Read!
Funded Feb 2, 2012My Class and I would like to send our gratitude for your generous donations. We have already begun our literature study of both "The BFG", and Bridge To Terabithia". The student's have been deeply engaged in the readings.
With the standards test approaching, these books have allowed students an alternative to the everyday drill and practice. The BFG, by Roald Dahl, is full of rich literature that allows students to explore figurative language that will last a life time in their memory. The Bridge To Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, has given the student's a love of reading with it's rich use of imagination. The great part is that these book will continue to be shared with future students.
The opportunity for my student's to develop a love of reading has only been possible because of your generosity.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Sowers
