Classroom Library for This Year & Beyond!

I wanted to personally thank you all for your generosity and allowing our 6th grade students to have a classroom library they can not only enjoy but that they can call their own. The excitement and joy my students experienced when they got to open the boxes the books came in is something I cannot describe with words. The students loved the many options offered to them, from graphic novels to informational texts to different series's, our library truly has something for all readers to enjoy.

My students and I envisioned a classroom library that had a variety of texts for all readers. With your generosity, we have that and more! I wanted a library where all of my students, no matter their current reading level, would feel comfortable and excited to go to to read for pleasure. With our new library, students can now do that. Students who struggle with reading grade level material, I see feel excited to go to our new library when we have Silent Sustained Reading time.

Also I have so many students who are so excited to read the graphic novels purchased. Two in particular that stick out are the My Hero Academia and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Those two series are usually the first to go when we have reading time in class. Also, a few of my students are reading the Hunger Game Series. Its great to see them in groups of 2-3 and reading the novel aloud to each other. Lastly, The Harry Potter series in Spanish we purchased for our Spanish speakers has been such a game changer for our EL (English Learners) population. Thank you!

Once again, I want to thank you all for allowing my students to have a library they deserve and are excited for. I hope the photos I shared shows just how much my students appreciate these texts. I told them that so many people out there are rooting for them to succeed not just in school but in life as well. Thank you for believing in my students as much as I do.”
