Fifth Grade Financial Literacy!
Funded Dec 29, 2023My students have greatly appreciated the resources provided to our classroom, and we are immensely grateful for the generous donations we've received. With these resources, we have implemented a money system and a class store. Students can earn money by meeting expectations, demonstrating leadership, exhibiting proper behavior, and actively participating in class activities. At the end of each month, I open the class store, where students can use their earnings. This project has not only taught students financial literacy but also emphasized the importance of saving and earning money. We have also discussed topics such as inflation and the impact of limited product availability in our store.
Upon introducing the class money and store, students were excited to participate. Many have shown exceptional leadership skills, inspiring others to follow suit. They particularly enjoyed the donated materials, including Takis, scented pencils, erasers, Rubik's cubes, and more. These items are beloved by the students, who eagerly anticipate the store's opening.
As we prepare for upcoming tests, I am eager to motivate students to persevere and do their best with the class money system. My aim is to reward those who diligently strive to grasp the material. By integrating this approach with the class money and store, I believe our students will be actively engaged and better prepared for end-of-year assessments. Once again, we extend our sincere thanks for the donations and the support provided to our students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Trejo
