Eclipse Viewing for Urban Students
Funded Sep 2, 2023The 8th grade students were beyond excited to hear that they were getting their own pair of solar eclipse glasses. A few of the classes even cheered! Once the glasses arrived and we were able to hand them out, students spent some time getting to use the glasses and look around to see exactly how much they were able to see through the lenses. Most of the students had never had this opportunity and were thrilled to bring this experience home to their families.
Many of the students were able to go outside over the weekend of the October annular eclipse with their families. Many students shared their solar eclipse viewing stories, some watched with their families, others met up at a nearby park with their friends, others were able to see it from inside their homes. A few students even brought their Earth, Moon, and Sun projects home to teach their families about solar eclipses!
The students were also given a protective sleeve for their glasses with the date, time, and best viewing location for the next solar eclipse and many students have been making plans with their families to view the next one. Without your help, this would not have been possible!”
With gratitude,
