Funded Dec 4, 2023The materials donated through this project were immensely useful to creating a safe learning environment for students and helping them to focus on their individual learning goals. For example, the plastic organizer helped to provide each student a place to store their differentiated work for IEP goals, creating a new classroom routine and more organization and consistency in our day-to-day. When the kids first saw the new materials, they were ecstatic. I conducted a short poll, and many of the kids agreed that the fidget poppers and kinetic sand were among their favorite things that were donated.
These two things have served as excellent incentives and alternatives for students with disabilities who require more intensive support with executive functioning. The magnetic math manipulatives have helped students to contextualize their math skills and achieve breakthroughs in their computational thinking. Being able to have a more kinesthetic approach to mathematics has been invaluable to students with alternative learning styles, and student achievement data supports this claim. Since beginning to use these tools in our classroom, students have shown over 50% growth in math.
Myself and my students are immensely grateful for your generous donation. My students are artists, leaders, and scholars. They are creative, kind, and resilient. They deserve access to a high-quality education. Thank you for contributing to their educational toolbox and playing a part in ensuring that they are able to grow in the most safe learning environment possible.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wiseman
