Math Help Without the Cost Help!
Funded Sep 24, 2023The donation of calculators to my classroom has been the biggest impact of the year. While some of my students have their own calculator, most do not. When students rely on their phones as a calculator, the risk is there to looking up answers while testing. This donation has helped my students understand there is a time and place to different technologies. Overall, students got to the point where they did not ask to use a calculator, they just grabbed one from the pockets where they were kept. Lastly, the calculators benefited my students greatly by using them on their SAT exams. Before the test, students asked to borrow one to use. I was more than happy to allow this. You generosity has made my students more appreciative of having this technology available for their use. Thank you for your gift, my heart goes out to you.”

Funded Sep 2, 2023The items donated were awesome. Students built some very intricate rollercoasters out of cardstock. The ability to make exact cuts using exacto knives and the cutting mats were a godsend. Overall the scissors also helped with these tasks. Other things constructed were mousetrap cars, egg drop cases, wave machines and musical instruments. I think students being able to think about physics in way they never thought makes the experience memorable and hopefully allows them to not shy away from doing hard things.
The biggest impact was the donation for calculators. I am not sure when calculators were not something students carried with them anymore, but I am grateful to have them in my classroom. I think students become dependent on cell phones as calculators. However, that is not a good choice when taking an exam. I am pleased that students just grabbed a calculator instead of arguing about using their phones as a calculator.
Thank you so much for the donations. I cannot express how much these items were needed and very well used.”
