  • Hispanic Americans in History

    Funded Jan 19, 2023

Thank you for donating to this project "Hispanic Americans in History." Because of your donations, my students were able to read about important people of Hispanic heritage such as Celia Cruz and Julia Alvarez. Some of whom they had not heard of before. The students were able to pick a famous Hispanic American and write a short report based on what they read about that person. Not only did they learn about a person of Hispanic heritage but my students became proud of their own Hispanic heritage.

Thank you for making a difference in the life of a child.”

    With gratitude,

  • New Year, Healthy Kids!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you for donating these Social Emotional Learning books. Many of my students have been struggling with social and emotional issues since the pandemic. I read these books to my students or the students read them by themselves or in pairs. These books like "Ruby Finds a Worry" and "Kindness is My Superpower" have given the students tools to deal with their emotions and teach them valuable lessons. We have open and honest discussions about feelings and emotions while reading these quality stories.

Thank you for making a difference in the life of a child.”

Thank you for donating to my "Eager Engineers" project. Because of your generous donations, I am able to teach hands on engineering lessons where my students go through the design process, collaborating and communicating in small groups to meet engineering challenges.

My students truly enjoy the read aloud children's books you donated. Through these books, my students are able to see themselves as future engineers which is one of my goals of this project. I want them to see engineering as a possible career choice.

  • Classroom Basics for Book Lovers

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations of classroom basics. Because of you, I was able to put on an after school family storytelling event where students wrote stories with their parents. They were able to write the stories with the booklets you provided and illustrate them with the crayons and markers you provided. The families had a lot of fun writing stories and being creative together. I could not have done it without your donations.

  • The American Dream

    Funded Oct 25, 2021

Thank you for helping me bring my United States history unit "The American Dream" to life. Because of you, my students were able to read classic novels by famous authors and discuss them during class. Each student had their own copy of each novel, so they were able to underline passages and take notes in the margins. These novels brought history to life for my students and we were able to have rich discussions on themes of discovery and opportunity.

These clubs have been a way for my students to read novels and non fiction books in a low stress environment where they can talk freely and connect with high interest books and their characters openly.
