Inclusion for All!
Funded Aug 30, 2023My students have greatly appreciated and benefitted from the materials that were funded through my Donors Choose project, Inclusion for All. They were initially most excited about the alternative seating options, the yoga ball chairs and the wobble stools. My students love having the option to choose from a variety of seats that allow them to get out stress and anxiety through movement rather than sitting stationary in traditional student chairs. I have other students who continue to seek out fidgets and stress balls throughout their day at school because this allows them to self-regulate and either remain in the classroom or transition back to the classroom much quicker.
I have students who are able to participate in their adaptive PE class much better than before due to the adaptive volleyballs. The softness of the adaptive volleyballs allows some students to play much longer because they aren't feeling the pain that they feel when playing with traditional volleyballs in PE class. I have other students who are better able to participate in the volleyball games because the lighter weight of the adaptive volleyballs allows them to have more time to react to the ball coming toward them.
My pragmatic language groups are really enjoying the Photo Conversation Cards for Children with Autism. The cards are a much more appropriate resource to use with my students because the include updated situations that are more applicable for present day students as compared to the outdated resources that we were using previously.”
With gratitude,
