  • WCES Students Need a Garden Library Upgrade

    Thanks you so much for your generous gift to revamp Wilshire Crest's Garden Library and provide much needed reorg and reboot of our shed/office.

    A garden shed can be a cramped and industrial place, but with the full scale redesign afforded by your donation, the space is much more organized and welcoming. The shovels, rakes and perlite still have room to be stored, but now there's now a craft area, a workspace and a small, accessible library for the school to enjoy.

    The children have LOVED the new books; they have added an added dimension to garden class, especially for the pre-k and special education students. One of the books we received called Where in the Wild? was essential for a 2nd grade lesson on camouflage and adaptation, the book A is for Artichoke introduced a whole new variety of vegetables to the Kindergarteners, and the set of Kids Garden Cards has been an incredible resource for lesson planning.

    The garden is a special place for the kids- a place to learn about science and nature, to harvest and cook fresh produce, and now, thanks to your donation, a place to sit out in the sunshine and fresh air and read a good book.”
