Ready To Uke And Roll!

South Lakes 5th graders have been incredibly excited to begin learning ukulele. It has been a great opportunity to engage students in learning about chords, rhythm, and the structure of songs. Ukuleles also give students their first experience on a string instrument which I hope they continue to build on in middle and high school.

We are now preparing for our first ever Ukulele performance to be held at the end of the year. Each 5th grade class will vote on a popular song to perform and I can't wait to see them show off their skills to their parents and the rest of the school.”
