Rhythm Instruments for Exploring
Funded Oct 6, 2023Thank you for your generous donation that helped fund my project, Rhythm Instruments for Exploring. Rhythm instrument packs were purchased that include a small hand drum, jingle stick, claves and egg shakers. My students were very excited to get to try and explore the new instruments.
Exploring different rhythm instruments is a big part of General Music and we were in need of smaller instruments that were easier for younger hands to hold. My students were especially happy with the new little hand drums. Thank you for helping my students to have instruments that they are able to successfully hold and explore.”

Easy to Hold Instruments
Funded Sep 10, 2023In being new to my school this year, I found that a lot of the smaller rhythm instruments in my classroom were in great need of being updated. Most were old, worn out or falling apart. I decided to start with replacing some castanets, sand blocks and finger cymbals. My school was also in great need of rhythm instruments that were easy to hold and play, especially for Kindergarteners or students with special needs. I found castanets that are easy to hold in your hand and push together, sand blocks with nice knobs to hold onto and finger cymbals with larger wood knobs for holding as well.
When I shared the new instruments with my Kindergarteners they were so excited. We sat in our exploration circle and passed them around to each other to explore and try. All of the students loved playing them and they were easy to hold for all. Even a student who has a hard time keeping things in his hands was able to hold and play the new instruments. My students and I are so thankful for your generous donation because it has given us the opportunity to have new easy to hold rhythm instruments in our Music classroom.”

Literacy in the Music Classroom.
Funded Sep 2, 2023For my Literacy in the Music Classroom project with your generous donation I was able to start filling my music classroom library with two books, supporting flash cards and two puppets that go along with the books. The students have loved listening to Freddie the frog and Eli the elephant teach them about notes on the music staff, rhythmic notation and music terminology. They have loved looking at the brightly colored pages and learning about how much the characters themselves love music. The Freddie The Frog books are a creative way for my students to grow in their music and literacy skills. My students were also so excited to have the actually puppets of the two main characters in the classroom. We used them while the students listened to the books as well as after when students retold the main parts of the stories.
Since my students loved these two books, puppets and supporting flashcards, my next step is to buy the rest of the books in the adventure series. The books have helped to build upon my students knowledge and skills in a fun and exciting way. I can't wait to buy the rest of the books to continue helping my students grow.”
