Visual journals
Funded Oct 30, 2024The supplies donated for our visual journaling lesson had a transformative impact on my high school students, allowing them to explore their creativity in ways that were previously limited by resources. With access to patterned paper, paint markers, and exacto knives, students were empowered to express their thoughts and emotions visually. The diverse materials encouraged experimentation, inspiring students to push beyond traditional boundaries and embrace their unique artistic styles. Each piece became a personal reflection, fostering a deeper connection to the subject matter and to themselves.
The students were very excited when I told them we had received new materials from donors. This enthusiasm translated into a willingness to take creative risks, as many students stepped outside their comfort zones to experiment with techniques they had never tried before. The exacto knives, initially intimidating, became tools for precision allowing them to create intricate designs and layered effects. As they worked, students shared their ideas and inspirations, encouraging one another to push boundaries and embrace mistakes as part of the artistic process. This newfound confidence not only enhanced their individual projects but also cultivated a culture of creativity and exploration, where students felt safe to express themselves freely and authentically.”

Funded Aug 29, 2023Thank you once again for all of the materials you have supplied to our classroom. With the clay you provided, students were able to complete tiles, and some other small projects. Students were excited to work with the clay and look at all of the new glaze options they would have for their pieces. Students took so much time planning for their tiles and sculpting little details to add. These tiles were some of the best I have received in a ceramics 1 class. All of the students were very proud of their finished pieces, and were begging me to fire them faster. We used the clay you provided, but still have glaze left over that we will be using on future projects. Currently, students are learning to throw on the wheel for the first time. It has been an exciting brand new experience for them. Students are excited to be able to use the bowls in the near future. We plan on holding an ice cream sundae party with their bowls and spoon they have created. Thank you again for helping me make this vision come true for my students and supporting them in their artistic endeavors.”
